About The Lockdown Show – a “real Show”, online

So how did the Lockdown Online Horse Show come to pass? We’ll let Eloise explain….

Sparkly hooves, shiny coats and flashy ponies is enough to catch the eye of any young girl. My Mum and I had made it our mission to find a way to join in on the showing fun. We had found the perfect pony and had a perfect plan.

Then everything skidded to a halt with the arrival of covid-19. Like the rest of the country, we were stuck inside without a show in sight and our perfect plan seemed to disappear before our eyes.

So, there we were with all that time on our hands, the perfect pony but nowhere to take it. It would be a whole year before we would be able to go out to our first show.

Or would it?

The brain storming began. And then a brilliant idea came to us if we couldn’t go to a show maybe we could bring the show to us and the idea of our online show was born.

It didn’t take long to realise it wasn’t only us missing out, many of our friends and family wanted to get involved.

Fundraising for our NHS

My Mum has worked for the NHS for over twenty years as an Occupational Therapist. Unfortunately, due to ill health she is currently not out working with her colleagues on the front line, but the NHS is very important to her and to us as a family. We agreed that all the proceeds from our first show would be donated to our incredible NHS and we were proud to be doing something to help.

Rainbows have become a symbol of joy and hope since Covid-19 and a friend came up with the genius idea of spreading some of that joy and hope throughout our equine community by creating a very special rainbow rosette. We approached a local rosette company who have made the rainbow rosette a reality for our lucky winners.

Continuing the fun…

Since that first event, we have been overwhelmed by the response to our show and people’s generosity. Charity is at the heart of what we do, and we have continued to raise money for with every event.

In each show, the proceeds of two classes are donated to a different charity every time we close a show. There are numerous prizes from local businesses to add to the fun and to give each competitor a chance to win regardless of where their horse or pony places.

The Lockdown Show would like to thank everyone who has been involved; our competitors, our sponsors, and our judges for making the each event such a success.
